Key to her treatment in this documentary is the portrayal of models as normal human beings rather than robots or dolls that as puppets are manipulated by almost everyone vertically in the industry, from agents right down to the makeup artists and fashion show directors. Enter Sara Ziff, a successful fashion model and her documentary film Picture Me, which takes an autobiographical charting of her career, as well as that of her peers, inviting candid interviews done on camera as shot by her then boyfriend Ole Schell, given that expose of the industry from within, covering a wide spectrum from the time a potential model is talent scouted on the streets at a tender age, to living the life jetsetting the fashion capitals of the world week in and week out. The nastier side of us will tend to pass snide remarks on their lack of brains as we become jealous of their looks, their fat paychecks for doing what seems to be simple (like how director and documentary subject Sara Ziff puts it, how difficult can it be walking down a runway that is straight?), and living the lifestyles that seem to be on a different stratosphere altogether. When you think of models, you think of incredibly beautiful specimens of the human species sashaying down catwalks, gracing fashion events, being that perfect clotheshorse for fashion designers to drape their latest collection on, and being plastered on everything from glossy magazines to billboards. As the flickering fire catches the wick I rejoice in the glow and for a moment the match and wick join forces and the flame reaches its highest potential only to settle down to a soft dancing amber as the match is pulled away. In that moment the flame meeting cotton wick becomes everything. Something about the scratchy strip of roughness against the round tip of the match is so satisfying as it suddenly bursts into flame. There are countless reasons to light a candle, and various ways to ignite the wick. “We are not here to curse the darkness but to light the candle that can guide us through the darkness to a safe and sane future” – John F. What was once a small internet tribute, has grown into a worldwide wave of light as candles are lit in every time zone. This day was created by The Compassionate Friends organization in 1997, as a way for families and friends to honor the memories of children who have left this world too soon. “Worldwide Candle Lighting Day” is celebrated annually on the second Sunday in December. Candles remind us, as Anne Lamott asserts, “grace bats last.” With the bases loaded the strongest hitter steps up, and like the strength of a candle’s flame, having survived since humans discovered fire, brings the players home. This ancient practice has only grown in importance as technology and our world has become increasingly distracting and complex. The power of candle lighting lives in our DNA. Unity candles are lit for couples joining together in marriage. We light candles in remembrance of those who have past. Most of us light candles on our birthday cake with a secret wish, while blowing them out, to the cheers of our loved ones. To calm our nervous system, we light a candle. To help strengthen awareness, mindfulness, we light a candle. Used for thousands of years by every world religion as a delivery system for sending prayers and blessings towards the heavens. Setting intentions on the flame of a candle is an ancient practice that crosses all social, economic and spiritual boundaries. Candle lighting can be so much more than just a pretty glow or lovely scent. We light candles to momentarily suspend time to become present in the miraculous moments. The memory of the Holocaust is ingrained in our collective identity.“How far that little candle throws its beams! So shines a good deed in a weary world.” – William Shakespeare Time is passing and we must ensure that Holocaust memory does not fade with it. Yet, memory in and of itself is not an independent value, rather, it relies upon moral obligation….memory needs to be the basis of action, a source of strength for creating a better world.” (Excerpted from The Manifest of the Holocaust Survivors) When this occurs, memory of the Holocaust must be transformed from being an integral part of our existence that is cemented into our flesh and soul – to a treasured artifact humanity and future generations must take responsibility for imbuing its memory with content and meaning…In Jewish tradition memory has inherent value. In a matter of just a few years, no more will remain on earth and no one will be able to truthfully say “I remember what happened during the Holocaust…” We will be left with only memorial books, research texts, images, film and recorded testimonies. “The community of Holocaust survivors is dying out. To ensure that good triumphs over evil As we prepare for the annual commemoration of Holocaust Remembrance Day, Tzohar’s Rabbinic Council calls on the public to light six candles at 7:00pm local time (19:00) on the evening of Yom Hashoah (Monday, April 20th). Should You Buy? If you want a change from the usual cod gameplay this is a good choice and I would recommend it if you have the money. Even so, I hope the other developers see this games success and they try to improve the series even further and make Call of Duty a great series again. Most veterans probably won't be entertained by AW for too long, but I could be wrong. It made the series feel fresh again and made great improvements and obviously benefited from the 3 year development, but in the end, it is just another Call of Duty. Not worth buying the game for Verdict: Even though I think this is one of the better Call of Duty's, I will give it an 8/10 because that does not mean it's amazing. just survival with a hidden 2 minute round of zombies. AW multiplayer is very good in my opinion. Hit detection isn't bad, felt like between ghosts and bo2. So far, finding games is, for the most part, quick and I haven't been thrown into games where i've been losing by a mile. Next is supply drops, which is pretty much a loot system that rewards you for playing. The next big addition is being able to use part your teammate's scorestreaks while they use another. You can make your scorestreaks stronger by making them cost points more points to earn. The first one is the ability to upgrade them. scoretreaks have been changed in 2 major ways in AW. This is due to classes now having their own scorestreaks which is something I've wanted for a long time. The pick 10 system from Black ops 2 is now Pick 13. I actually felt like I was playing a new game this time around, and I strongly believe this game will be superior to Ghosts in many ways. You can expect the same game at it's core, which really isn't a bad thing, but the new exo-abilities encourages more tactics, skill and strategy than previous CoDs. I was skeptical as well, but I when I actually play, the game feels like Call of Duty, yet it feels so different at the same time. Multiplayer: When this game was first revealed, everyone was very skeptical that the futuristic additions would drastically change the way the game played and would no longer be what made Call of Duty what it is. Also, the voice acting and performance of Troy Baker and Kevin Spacey were great. I would recommend that vets play on higher difficulties because the challenge adds to it well and the whole thing still is as short as you would expect, but I found the story pretty interesting, because it felt real. The campaign also shows off the future pretty well and this makes for some pretty fun/interesting moments in gameplay. The way they imagine 40 years in the future had a great feel to it and I think it was so well done, that it felt different and more immersive than other CoD campaigns. Campaign: It is what you would expect from a call of duty campaign, but the future setting felt so realistically created that I had to give props to sledgehammer. During the campaign, the framerate would dip at times, but not badly. As far as performance goes, on the 360, this runs at a 720p at 60fps which isn't really bad compared to xbox one's 1360x1080 resolution and the ps4's 1080p, but it is slightly noticeable, but not a huge difference. While a few textures may look a little ugly at times, they aren't too bad, so I think that this was a good step forward in the graphics department. The cutscenes in the game look right next to real life and are pleasing to watch due to the motion capture used for it, but in gameplay there is a slight downgrade, but it still does look good for last gen's technology. I'm not saying that this is an amazing looking game, but pretty good for 2014 especially on an old console. Considering that it is running on the 360, it is actually extremely impressive to me. In my honest opinion, AW has what i would consider above average graphics and shows an improvement from Ghosts. Graphics/Performance: Graphics don't matter to me much, but since this is a cross-gen game, some people may want to know how it compares to the new gen. Just so you know, this is a review of MY experience on the 360 version of the game and not the next gen version even though they are about 95% the same. I'm going to give my honest review of this game and be as unbiased and honest as possible and cover as much as I can about Advanced Warfare. Cockatoos range in size from medium to large.
